Wild Flower

Since moving to Lightroom my editing process has changed dramatically, as I can edit my images with more fluidity than with Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop. That doesn’t mean that I am not using photoshop but I edit with it less often.

With Lightroom I have also been using presets more. I use presets as a starting point or even an inspiration point for editing an image. With this image in particular the Preset is a split tone with warm highlights and cold shadows that  has softened the colours of image while making it a more appealing.

  1. Have you tried creating your own presets, Ben? I have a few and also some in Silver Efex Pro. I’m not sure about the cold background in this one. I’d like more uniform warmth.

    • I have a few black and white presets and basic colour adjustment presets in lihhtroom. I also created presets for importing images to correct for characteristics of lenses and to reduce noise. In silver efex haven’t made any yet but I have a few in colour efex.
I prefered the colder background to the warmer one as it clashed morw qith the purple of the flower. Though it comes down to different tastes.
      Thanks for commenting Andrew.

  2. I love Lightroom, and moving to it for my post processing was life changing. You may also benefit from Import Presets! I created a Preset that does nothing other than apply Lens Correction. Then, I select this preset when importing all my images. 🙂

    • I have Import presets for metadata and lens correction, it speeds things up so much.
I originally used Lightroom one many years ago, to be honest it wasn’t that good so I left it. In the last year I have started using it again and it has improved so much and I also think my photography has gotten better because of it.

thanks for taking the time to comment Sonya.
