One Four Challenge; Candle with Leaves Pt2 Black on White

Robyn over at captivate me has come up with a cool challenge to edit a picture 4 ways called, One Four Challenge. The idea is that you choose one picture for the month, each week edit the shot differently and share it. At the end of the month you will have four different images. You can read more about the challenge here.

Candle with leaves black and white

For the second rendition of this image I decided to go black and white. I opened up the exposure more than in the last version and also toned down the brightness of the candle to actually see the flame in a bit more detail. I toned the image using a Neopan Preset and then tweaked the image from there. I also added a slight cream colour to the highlights and a little bit of blue to the shadows, nothing too noticeable but it adds a bit more depth to the shot.

As always feel free to let me know what you think in the comment box below.

Also please check out Robyns post for the first week.

  1. Hi Ben 😊
How great to see these 2 images. The first one really tells a story by its mood. This week, there is a bit more information and adds more, but still quite mysterious.
I love this mono version and the creamy tones add to the softness. Beautiful!
