All Saints Day

All Saints Day also called Solemnity of All Saints and also called All Hallows or Hallowmas is a Christian festival honouring all the saints known and unknown. This festival is celebrated in the western calendar the day after Halloween and before All Souls Day.

In Poland and most of mainland Europe, All Saints Day is a public holiday. On this day people travel to the graves of their friends and family and pray for them. As well as praying, people lay flowers on the graves and light candles for remembrance. At night the Cemeteries glow for all to see and become quite a spectacle and in a way a spectacle of light.
